In a funny fall urge to de-clutter before being stuck indoors during inevitable snow storms and frosty -40 degrees, we posted an ad to give our piano away.
Dear Piano: the piano tuners said it would cost more to fix you than you are worth. Sorry. The charm you held of memories of Paluds practising on your worn keys could not justify the space you took and the dust you gathered. So… you’ve found a new home… But part of you is still here… we kept your bench!
Dear New Owner: The piano looks small, doesn’t it? It’s almost cute… But go ahead and lift it… at an angle, up eight stairs, and yes, it’s suddenly a sturdy little thing… We’re delighted you were so happy to take her away with your gang of friends… Perhaps you have connections to someone who can fix the cracked base for free, some glue to re-attach the hammer, and a technician on speed dial to keep her tuned. We hope you find plenty of melodies to bring her to life.
