For Mother’s Day, we traditionally invite Christian’s side of the family to a brunch at our place. Since Marie-Hélène was born, we’ve talked about having a picture taken of “the four generations”. This is that first attempt…
Christian’s grandma is our Memère Faucher… She is 92 this year, and has undergone 6 hip operations. She’s only just moved to a senior’s residence, where, she noted with delight, her meals come regularly “and they don’t ask me to pay for them!”.
It is customary to kiss her on both cheeks upon arriving, and leaving. Despite her memory lapses, she’ll think of Marie-Hélène. She is a strong woman… she had 10 children. One year (it is often repeated), she married off her oldest daughter, lost her husband and then a son. She’s lived all her life in Saint-Boniface, still loves to go out and last Sunday, had two servings of quiche. We are blessed to know her.
